Cave Racer
A recent bandwagon among the builders on flickr is this ‘cave racer‘ idea which basically amounts to a floating engine with wings, and a pilot desperately holding onto the back pretending like there’s some sort of control involved. Tim Gould is the mastermind behind it and set up some magnificently arbitrary requirements for these racers (see here). Thanks to the lax criteria outside those core features, I was able to re-imagine my all time favorite creation – the Sandshark – into arguably the most deviant cave racer to date that still fits squarely in the guidelines. I don’t expect to hold onto that title for long though now that the envelope has been pushed… but up until now the idea was starting to get a bit predictable with all that symmetry.
