it’s about time
So today, through no real effort of my own, I made a five year leap forward in gaming… leaving me a mere 7 years behind the times now! Many thanks to my friend Clashy for his generosity and abundance of outdated consoles. What exactly am I talking about? I finally got to upgrade my system from the tried and true N64 to a battle worn Xbox… with a nice handful of games to get me started too (Star Wars Episode III Revenge of the Sith, Star Wars Republic Commando, Counter Strike, and some indie game called “Halo” that I’ve never heard of).
The funny thing is the game that initiated this whole thing is sadly absent from the list. You see, many moons ago I was discussing the best Star Wars game with Clashy online. Rogue Squadron (on N64, obviously) gets my vote hands down, but he was trying to convince me that KOTOR puts it to shame. Since KOTOR was not on a system I owned, and therefore hadn’t played, I automatically ruled it out (sound logic, right?). Now, this appalled him so much he offered to mail me his spare Xbox and the game so I could play it and actually prove Rogue Squadron was better. I’m not one to run down such an offer but I couldn’t let a friend just hand over something like that, so I offered what we agreed was a pretty fair trade. That snowballed, more and more was added to the still in progress trade, and hilarity ensued.
