“oishii” – Japanese – Adjective,
(い-i declension, hiragana おいしい) 美味しい: delicious
About a year or so ago the best sushi place in town – Oyama – sold out to a place called “Sushi 80s” …they were good, but not as good as before. The atmosphere went from a great hole in the wall authentic feeling sushi joint to loud, dark, over themed karaoke bar. Tonight, we found a new hole in the wall on the other side of town, and to our great surprise, it’s owned by one of the former Oyama chefs! Not only that, but most of the staff there used to work in Oyama. the owner here used to just be an employee there, but when the place sold out and that owner moved, this guy decided to open his own place. Good call too… the rolls are still fantastic and he remembers us since we ate there so often.
I’m so happy we found a new great place to eat.

You know, three days of sleeping 10-12 hours and doing practically nothing the rest of the time followed by five hours of sleep and a 9 hour workday simply does not compute. Yeah yeah, “be more responsible and manage your sleep better”… blah to that. It’s more fun to complain.
I miss the rain already. I miss the 40° drop in the temperature, the grey skys, and the smell of wet pavement. I’m not a big fan of summer because here it means sporratic stretches of tripple digit highs and untimely AC unit failure, with possible random blackouts tossed in to change things up a bit. It’s not that bad yet but with the storm passing I know what’s in store.
Blah I say.

That’s right, I might have spotted the grail from The Last Crusade in Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. I watched it for the third time this afternoon and something caught my eye on a bookshelf in the background of the test site house Indy runs through before jumping in the fridge. Also, easier to spot egg, the house number is 138 – so it’s close enough to satisfy the 1138 reference I’d say.
If anyone can confirm or deny this, that’d be great… it’s not like I can provide any confirmation until the DVD hits. Just keep your eyes open for it!

Bad idea. I’m about to die right now… Only good thing is it yields some great comments about smuggling out the leftover rolls:
Is that a sushi roll in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?
…because it smells funny.
……and it’s leaking something.

cue theme song…
Very excited, been waiting for this for a long time. I’m cautiously optimistic – as in, I’m sure I’ll love it, but I’m worried there will be aliens and zombies and it’ll kill the awesomeness of it all. I’ll find out in just a couple hours though!

I got them! Finally! I’d seen the preview shots months ago on Flickr and even though they don’t have the different colored eye-masks, I still thought they looked great. I’m glad I didn’t just get Donatello like I considered at first, they look great and the connecting stands just make it all the more awesome.
I hope the rumors of the San Diego Comic Con exclusive Mouser three pack are true… because I don’t want to have to pay for April to get some of those.

In a nutshell, Ponoko is a web based on-demand laser cutting company where you can have pretty much anything you’ve designed (so long as it’s made from flat material) cut for a reasonable cost. Lots of interesting possibilities there with all their materials, and you can even set up a shop and sell your designs. I’ve had it bookmarked for a while now in case I need anything other than metal cut for myself.
Now, they’ve also got a blog highlighting the best in laser cutting based products and designs from all over the place, to underscore how frickin awesome and versatile laser cutting is. I found out about this via an email from a couple days ago… one of the authors was tipping me off that they had a post featuring my keychains in the pipes. I didn’t catch it until tonight (as I was gone for the weekend), but here it is! Go read! There’s a good bit of discussion in the comments now too about the possible legal implications of this sort of thing.
